Ready For Warm Weather

Copyright Kristina Conatser @ CapturedbyKC Designs

Winter has been wonderful... but I'm ready to say goodbye. We've gotten lots of snow this year, and it's all been so beautiful, but I'm ready for sunshine, green grass, and colorful flowers.

Winter is lovely for taking photos, but after awhile, everything is just white. Spring is like an art palette or a symphony of color and it's all just so alive. I love it and my camera loves it too!

Really, when it comes down to it, I just love flowers. I hope that now that I am a home owner, I can create a beautiful floral garden of my own to enjoy. For now, I collect floral wall art to brighten my home.

Check out some of these lovely floral prints

Mother's Day Card-My Review

A part of being a growing artist is seeing what your product looks like in print. I have been ordering my designs so that I could see the quality of the print from the company I am working with, the quality my design and so that I may share my honest review of both the design and the product with you.

Mother's day is coming up and although I had already ordered something special for my mother, I needed to order something special for my mother in-law. I decided that now would be a perfect time to order one of my religious inspired mother's day greeting cards.

Here is the card I ordered:
For You Mother by BWC Designs

and now for my review:

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the card. The card is firm, standard size and came well packaged in a timely manner. I actually received it a few days earlier than I was expecting. Every detail on the card came out exactly how it was designed. The colors were true to my design and what I previewed on the computer. My only negative comment is that the card was printed on glossy stock which is very professional looking but is also shiny and can detract from the design as well as easily pick up fingerprints. I hope that in the future other paper stocks become available for greeting cards.  Over-all, the greeting card came out wonderfully and I just know that on mother's day my mother-in law is going to love it!

Here are some photos of it that I took. Sorry for the poor lighting.

New Daisy Themed Gifts Have Arrived

In my anxious wait for Spring,-which is quickly approaching- I have been working on artsy floral designs to sell online in my store. My quest began with Daisies. I love Daisies. They are so pretty, so popular and can be found almost anywhere because they are a multi-regional flower. They also come in different colors such as pink, yellow, white and even purple.

A few fun facts about Daisies:
  1. A Daisy is a type of wildflower that is said to have originated in Central, Western and Northern Europe.
  2. Daisies go well with nearly any other kind of flower in floral arrangements. White Daisies are often used as fillers in bouquets to create a dramatic look along with other more colorful flora.
  3. Daisies are the flower of choice for making flower chains, bracelets, headbands or necklaces.
  4. The leaves of a Daisies are edible and can be used as a healthy addition to a bowl of salad.
  5. A Daisy flower blooms at dawn and closes at night and so it is sometimes also called "day's eye"
  6. There are many different beliefs and stories about what Daisies symbolize but the over-all thought is that they represent light and adding brightness to people's lives.

Art Challenge- Bar/Yellow

I was invited by a very talented friend of mine, to join another blog in their weekly "2 Things" art challenges. I thought this was a great idea. Right now, you're probably wondering what the "2 Things" art challenge is, so I will tell you. Every week, the author of 2 Things Blog chooses 2 random subject that we artists must interpret into our artwork anyway we wish. It's all about using creativity, imagination and having fun. Anyone can join (including you!) and any form of art is welcomed, so long as it's family friendly.

This week's Challenge is- Bar/Yellow.
Here is my entry:

Beauty Revealed © 2011 Kristina Conatser (BWC Designs)

The image above is my interpretation of this weeks art challenge. For the yellow, I chose a photograph of a blooming Sunflower and then photo-shopped the image causing bar-like separations within the graphic. To me, it almost looks as if vertical blinds have opened revealing a beautiful springy flower.

What do you think of my floral image? I would love to hear from you! Thanks for viewing and thanks to 2 Things Blog for the art challenge opportunity.
